The drama really showed how the org. on a local level really works. The intention was to make clear that this type of behavior from elders is not only expected but also encouraged and that if you're a widow or an orphan (the kind Jesus and the OT said to protect against this type of behavior) you really should keep an elder as close friend (maybe your mom should screw uncle Jack) or else you will be railroaded by the next Judicial Committee.

Resolution on JW Case in France
by Blind Willie McTell ineuropean court of human rights vindicates jehovahs witnesses in france the european court of human rights published its unanimous ruling in our favour against the french government's demand for 60% tax on donations back dated to 1993-1996 for $79 million.
this will have great implications for other european countries who would like to do the same thing to us and effectively stop our work.
they sought to obligate the association of jehovahs witnesses of france to pay 58 million euros (over $82,000,000 us), which far exceeds all the assets of the association.

The point was NOT that they had to pay taxes (according to WTBTS it was). The reason they had to pay taxes is because France no longer recognized them as a religion because they do no local service benefitting the community, send any voluntary contribution money to another country and because their blood and shunning policy is a dangerous aspect that doesn't belong in a religion.
I would like to read the full EHCR decision though and the effect it will eventually have on the French case (b/c the judge in those cases would have to accept the EHCR decision) or any consignments the WTBTS falsely made as they did in Bulgaria.

DEAR RICH FOLKS: Get Ready For A (Tax) Revolution...
by darthfader ininteresting point of view and graphs.
is the us different today than it was in the 50's and 60's when tax rates were at their highest?
a lot of people agree that raising taxes pulls money out of the economy and will hinder job creation.
-
Anony Mous
Yes it will be revolutionized. The rich folks that already pay practically no taxes will pay even less taxes and those that do will pay more. They will introduce a 'poor tax' where you will be taxed for being poor and a '"I'm rich biatch" deduction' where you will be fully deducting any taxes paid on income over 200,000.
BusinessInsider is not really a good source for anything. It's a magazine publishing paid-for shill articles as 'content'. It's like an ad-paper you get in your mailbox but trying to appear as a legitimate magazine. It's the Watchtower of the money industry.

WTS vs The Smurfs? 2011
by kzjw inwith the release of the 3d movie the smurfs, will the wt once again bash the little blue people as agents of satan?
we see the focus on twilight bashing, so is this even a relevant call for the society to make?
or will they rely on their past attack of papa smurf and the gang?.

@truthseeker:
They already do say that practically. You should not watch, read or look up anything that offends or goes against anything in the bible, glorifies anything God's hate (those who love the world cannot love God), mentions sex or violence (such things should not be mentioned under you), even comes close to the Devil, demons or spiritistic things.
Name anything in TV/Internet/Literature and I will find a problem with it. Heck, I can find problems with most of the Watchtower's and their website even because of the things they depict or talk about (They do talk and depict spiritism, sex and violence). Heck, back when I was 12 I started looking at some WT publications for some of the sexually suggestive poses they depicted as being evil but then I found a lingerie magazine of my mothers.

What made you leave "The Truth"?
by Chemical Emotions infor me it was many things.
most concerned certain teachings that invloved genders, children, sex, sexuality and sexual orientations, disfellowshipping, apostates, blood, rape, and few other things, as well as the jw's unloving attitude toward so many people..

Racism was something I recently started to have problems with but I always chalked it up to some 'locals' and never noticed this was a widespread issue in other congregations as well. In a mixed congregation it seems like the members of the race with the most elders have it much easier than the members of other races to 'attain privileges'.
When I started an interracial relationship it has become even harder and I was being talked about, again by the predominant race of the congregation. When I mentioned that I perceived a problem in the congregation to one of my close friends who was of the other race he felt personally offended and started ignoring me.
There are so many problems in any congregation. In most congregations I attended the elder bodies are entirely populated by intermarried families. At first you wouldn't notice but when you start building relationships you find out this elders' wife is the daughter of this elder or this elder is the brother of this servant and this elder has his nephew fast-tracked even though there are plenty others in line that would be much better suited.
On the other hand, so many people are under qualified to do their jobs as servants or elders. Servants should require a minimum of math and basic reading skills but so many just wing it and 'with Jehovah's spirit' do a half-assed job. One of our elders has a very hard time reading and it's a pain to see him do any of those reading assignments, not because he's dyslexic but simply because he never got the schooling necessary to learn how to read properly.

I saw 1 girl but I was too far away to say anything. There's a lot of people there though so it's hard to discern. Also, if anyone knew the sign and saw me with it they would probably be shocked it was me and think that I am a sham put in place by the organization.
I noticed a lot more (young) girls/women at our convention this year, single brothers are in sure demand to fulfill the sexual desires, the society might have to go all Mormon on us in a couple of years and allow for polygamy just to keep them sisters in check.
Most of you got PM'ed. Remember this went out to maybe 100-200 people, some of which don't even go to the DA's anymore and the announcement was a bit late as well. Maybe next year we can do something similar and really go more risky.

2 elders made me open up my eyes by coming to my house and saying "If your child needs a blood transfusion, you can't accept it. It's better for her to die a sacrifice to Jehovah than accepting a blood transfusion". I was then refused to keep the form they have that states that (you can look it over but we can't give it out).
After that I started looking into the Blood Doctrine and dabbled over into Rick Fearon's site, got turned off by apostates (I think Rick is really an undercover JW with a message designed to scare off current Witnesses from the already dreaded apostates (the society can then say, we told you so)) but then my conscience kept nagging and I went and looked at the jwfacts site and it was down (or up) from there into Letters of the Governing Body blog, JWN etc..

New arrangement
by DagothUr ini don't know if anyone has already posted this since i was in corfu island in the last 2 weeks.
it's from the jwn forum:.
september 2011 km says, "publishers auxiliary pioneering during march 2012 will have the option of working toward a 30-hour or a 50-hour requirement for the month.
-
Anony Mous
At the convention they said it was a 'great success' and implied that it might be repeated (or at least that was what the local dubs heard, I was snoozing). The stats: 2.8M aux. pioneers that month (out of almost 8 million) working like a combined 3500 years. I mean, elders, servants and bethelites and their families were all pressured to participate (or else...)

What I meant was the Daniel prophecy. They are on stage and with a straight face say: "we were wrong about the interpretation of this prophetic image. If you compare the Daniel book (and they list a few other pubs) with the image on the invitation, you will see the difference". "the clay are the divisive elements in the Anglo-American World Power that make it lose it's strength such as the Labor Union movements and the Civil Rights movement" "But how about the toes of the image. APPARENTLY the 10 toes don't mean anything". "You can fix homosexuality by becoming a Jehovah's Witness"
Also, take note that they now say the bible message from Jesus (such as the parable of the small road and the tight door being hard to enter the Kingdom) and the letters from Paul, John and Jude is for Annointed only (they repeat it a couple of times). By extension the other sheep are included in the kingdom to help the preaching work and they can learn from it. The actual Kingdom of God is ONLY of benefit for the annointed, the other sheep are blessed by the kingdom only if they follow the direction of the annointed and spirit-directed organization of Jehovah's Witnesses and preach with them.
She will dedicate herself to the organization, not to Jesus or God's Kingdom.

This convention blows
by Anony Mous inseriously, half day in (already had an argument with the wife this morning about individuality in the organization in which she conceded that a lot of it is based on looks) and this is already getting on my nerves.
i'll post a rebuttal based on my annotations later in the week but one thing i got to get off my mind: saying the feminist movement (women going to work instead of staying home) and the diversity laws (allowing for homosexuality - but also religious freedom, racial discrimination etc.
) caused a lot of the problems in our world right from the stage.. there are less people here than last year - about 500 less..

No I do not imply that Homosexuals are Child Molesters (although one of the talks did imply that those two and pornography are all equal in God's eyes) what I meant was:
First they ignored the psychological issues of being abused as a child (he learned the truth and all is better as he forgave and is supposed to forget about whoever did him wrong)
Then they ignored that he was actually a homosexual and accepted him in a congregation where it is wrong to be that way (I believe personally that's the way your sexuality naturally goes, not a disorder as they implied)
They ignored the psychological issues of repressing his homosexuality with scriptures that say God does not accept it (and yes, they did quote those scriptures from the Bible)
Then they ignored the psychological issues of being somewhat forced (maybe by himself) to have sex with somebody he never will have true feelings for and have kids. Just imagine (if you are straight) being forced to have sex with another man (or woman if you're female) just because your social structure forces you that way is the only acceptable way.
And then they went ahead and gave him a position of absolute authority (elder) in an autonomous, separated congregation (as the WT org doesn't WANT to have anything to do with congregations if something goes wrong at a local level) of a high mind controlling cult (elders are always right, they are lead by God himself). That's simply asking for further abuse (as is the case with Catholic Priests being forced into celibacy).
